  • October 9th, 2018 - 
  • This week 6th graders are going on a field trip to see Short Films with the International Film Festive downtown, please make sure permission slips are returned! 
  • In Humanities class, we are continuing to reflect about our identities and how our the community has shaped who we are. Students will be doing a mural project in groups and along with that students are expected to write an essay describing a moment that defined a turning point in their lives that challenged them to become more mature and responsible.
  • Lastly please check PowerSchool for updated students grades and progress, however, Social Studies grades will have minimal assignments attached.
  • October 1st, 2018 - This week 6th-grade students are continuing to read Freak the Mighty, focusing on character development and plot description. They are also continuing to develop their writing skills and describe how they self-identify and how their identity is developed through their home culture and community. Students are going to interview parents, so parents please answer their questions thoroughly to learn more about culture and identity.The students already took their first vocabulary quiz and we are reviewing test taking strategies that will help students become more confident while taking a quiz or test. We have an upcoming field trip to MSI tomorrow for Ms. Allen, and next week I will be leading a field trip to the 54th Chicago International Film Festival. All students need to have their permission slip signed, the field trip is Wednesday, October 10th.
