Welcome to third grade and the 2011-2012 school year at Erie Elementary Charter School! I am very excited to be your 3rd grade teacher this year and have another great year together! We will still be the University of Chicago (U of C) classroom and we are very excited to have 3 new students to join our class! Remember that the U of C is still one of the best universities in the world so we have to "try our best so we´ll go far", just like our song says!
This year is a very important year. We are going to learn how to multiply and divide, learn about the sun, moon and stars, sound, Ancient Rome, the early Americas, how to write 5 paragraph essays, read lots of chapter books and much more! It is also the first year that we will take ISAT so we will spend time preparing for that, too.
We have a fantastic Spanish teacher, Mrs. Yolanda DeLeon, who has been with us at EECS for several years. She loves Spanish and is very excited to help you improve your español through reading, activities, playing games, and lots more. She plans many interesting and fun activities and projects, and you even get to go to the Spanish room sometimes!
We are going to have to work really hard this year so we can learn lots of new things. Please tell your parents that you should come to school on the first day with half of your school supplies and bring the rest on Wednesday. Also, don't forget to come in your nice, neat uniform, ready to learn!

¡Bienvenidos a tercer grado y el año escolar 2011-2012 en la Escuela Erie! Estoy muy emocionada a ser su maestra de tercer grado este año y tener otro año fantástico juntos. Seremos el salón de la Universidad de Chicago (U de C) todavía y estamos emocionados tener trés alumnos nuevos como parte de nuestra clase. Recuerdan que la Universidad de Chicago es una de las mejores universidades del mundo y necesitamos trabajar lo mejor que podemos tener mucho éxito como nuestra canción dice ("try our best so we'll go far").
Este año sera muy importante. Aprenderemos a multiplicar y dividir y aprenderemos sobre el sol, la luna y las estrellas, los sonido, la Antigua Roma, las Américas al principio, como escribir ensayos de 5 párafos, y leeremos muchos libros con capítulos y mucho más. Sera el primer año que tomaremos el ISAT entonces vamos a tener mucho tiempo preparandonos por eso.
Tenemos una nueva maestra de español es fantástica, se llama la Señora Yolanda DeLeon que ha estado con nosotros en la Escuela Erie por varios años. A ella le encanta el español y está muy emocionada para ayudarnos a mejorar nuestro español leyendo libros, haciendo actividades, jugando juegos y mucho más. Plánifica actividades y proyectos entretenidos e interesantes y también a veces van al salón de español.
Necesitamos trabajar muy duro este año para que aprendamos muchas cosas nuevas. Por favor, dile a tus padres que debes venir a la escuela el primer día con la mitad de los materiales escolares los demás materiales traerlos el miércoles. Recuerda venir con tu uniforme, muy limpio y bonito, para que estemos listos para aprender.
