Welcome to Third Grade!
I am so excited to have another year with you as your teacher, watch you continue to grow, ask questions, explore new topics, and turn 9 or 10 years old! This will be an exciting year filled with new learning, growing, and many changes. As you know, for the first three months of school, I will not be in the classroom. Your teacher during that time will be Ms. Diane Asberry. I will be on maternity leave at home caring for my newborn baby; however, I will return on December 5. I will be coming in to visit though and keeping in contact with Ms. Asberry on a weekly basis to check in with all of you and make sure you are behaving for her and doing your best.
You will soon meet many new friends. This year, we have lost a few old friends, but gained some new ones. There are 6 new girls and 1 new boy in our classroom! Please make sure to welcome them into our class and teach them the ways of SAIC. In third grade there are new things to learn and explore. We will be learning how to multiply and divide, organize and write 5 paragraph essays in our journals, explore Ancient Rome and learn about the Vikings, as well as study the planets and our solar system. I promise a year full of fun and learning!
During our days at school you will have Spanish with Mrs. Yolanda DeLeon. She is an amazing teacher who always plans fun and creative lessons and projects. She is excited to be teaching third grade Spanish and getting to meet all of you.

Greetings Parents!
Welcome to 3rd Grade! My name is Diane Asberry. I am excited to be working with your child while Mrs. Garcia is on maternity leave. I have lots of experience teaching! I retired in 2009 from CPS after 35 years of working with children. Third Grade happens to be one of my favorite grades.
Mrs. Garcia and I have been meeting to plan, what I hope is, an educational and fun-filled year for your child. This year, we will be preparing for the ISAT test. I look forward to meeting each of you and working with both you and your child.
While Mrs. Garcia is gone, my goal is to keep many of the classroom routines established by Mrs. Garcia the same, however; some things will be different. You might have to discuss this with your child occasionally.

Please make sure to review the third grade supply list before coming to school on Tuesday, September 6. There have been some CHANGES made to the list your received in the mail, so please take the time to review it. We are asking that all parents only send HALF of their supplies on Tuesday, September 6 and the other HALF the following day. This will allow us time to organize the supplies and not take up class time to do so.

Bienvenidos a tercer grado!
Estoy muy emocionada a seré su maestra para otro año, veré cambios de tú, como continuas creciendo, haces preguntas, exploras temas nuevas, y cumples 9 o 10 años. Como sabes, yo no será su profesora para los primeros 3 meses de escuela, y no estaré en clase porque estoy embarazada y voy a tener un bebe. Yo regresaré el 5 de diciembre. Durante este tiempo, su maestra será Señora Diane Asberry. Yo visitaré a la escuela y hablaré con Señora Asberry cada semana para ver si te portas bien y haces su trabajo.
Pronto vas a conocer a nuevos amigos. Este año hay 7 estudiantes nuevos en nuestra clase. Hay 6 niñas y 1 niño nuevos en nuestra clase. Por favor, ayúdeslos en nuestra escuela y enseñesles las reglas y cosas de nuestra clase. En el tercer grado hay muchas cosas nuevas para aprender y explorar. Aprenderemos a como multiplica y divida números, organizaremos y escribiremos un ensayo con cinco párafos, aprenderemos sobre Roma antigua y los Vikings, y estudiaremos las planetas y nuestra sistema solar. Yo prometo un año lleno de diversión y aprendizaje.
Durante el día, vamos a aprender español con la Señora Yolanda DeLeon. Ella es una profesora buena que planea lecciones importantes y divertidos. Ella está emocionada de enseñar español de tercer grado y conocer los estudiantes nuevos.

Bienvenidos a tercer grado! Mi nombre es Diane Asberry. Estoy muy emocionada a trabajar y enseñar su hijo/hija durante Señora Garcia no está en la clase. Tengo mucha experiencia de una profesora. Yo paré enseñar de CPS después de enseñando 35 años. El tercer grado es uno de mis favoritos!
Señora Garcia y yo hemos trabajando durante el verano para planar el año. Este año será divertido y educativo para su hijo/ hija. También vamos a preparar para el ISAT. Estoy emocionada a conocerte y a su hijo/hija.
Durante el tiempo que Señora Garcia no está, mi meta es a mantener la mayoría de las cosas las mismas; pero hay cosas que serán diferentes. Por favor, hable con su hijo/hija sobre esta cosa.
Por favor asegúrese de revisar su lista de materiales antes del primer día de clases, el cual es martes septiembre 6. HAY CAMBIOS A LA LISTA, POR FAVOR PONE ATENCION! Por favor le pido también que traiga LA MITAD de sus útiles el primer día de escuela y la otra MITAD el miércoles. Necesitamos tiempo para organizar los materiales ya que hay muchos.
