Mission Statement

At the elementary level, it is critical to develop learners who explore, inquire and are able to work collaboratively to construct knowledge and develop skills. At EECS it is not enough to learn concepts from books and memorize facts. It is necessary to approach all content areas from both a foundation of discipline-specific knowledge and an inquiry-based, hands-on approach.

Accelerated Learning

Based on the work of Bulgarian psychiatrist Georgi Lozanov, who developed the theory of "suggest-opedia," and Dr. Evelyna Gateva, a language educator, accelerated learning also incorporates Howard Gardner's multiple intelligences theory.  In 1978 the Bulgarian government put the brakes on the spread of accelerated learning by refusing to allow Lozanov to communicate with the outside world. But the model didn't completely lose momentum - and interest has accelerated tremendously since Glasnost hit Bulgaria in 1987.

The Accelerated Learning Method is based on research on how the human brain works. Each student has a preferred learning style — a way of learning that suits them best and at EECS they will be provided with a positive multi-modal, multi-sensory environment that accepts the uniqueness of each learner. Working with different learning styles and all the senses: visual, auditory, kinesthetic students at EECS will be learning, thinking, and using their creativity towards their success.
