Dear Friends
of Erie Elementary Charter School:
With our
second annual report, we would like to take this opportunity, along with our
students, parents, faculty and board of directors, to thank each of you who have
had a part in assisting us establish a school that is now providing superior
public education to 161 children. We are particularly grateful to long time
supporters of Erie Neighborhood House who were confident about this new venture
since the beginning and chose to invest in our
school.
Erie Elementary Charter
School (EECS) is a separate not for profit corporation with its own governing
structure and budget. EECS is no longer eligible to receive special public and
private grant funds available to new schools during their first two years of
operation. As we continue to add a new grade each year
and enrollment grows, the per student funding amount from Chicago Public
Schools for charter schools is significantly less than the per student amount allocated to existing traditional public
schools. Therefore, it becomes even
more critical that we renew the commitment of our supporters.
We strongly believe in
the merits of EECS, its commitment to providing two teachers in every classroom
from kindergarten to third grade, and to setting children on a solid path to
academic achievement. Please be
aware that in the near future you will also receive Erie Neighborhood House’s
annual report. Don’t be confused,
they are separate organizations, and we welcome your support of either or
both. We are counting on your
continued investment in the school’s future and its positive
outcomes.
Sincerely,
Kenneth
