Mission Statement

At the elementary level, it is critical to develop learners who explore, inquire and are able to work collaboratively to construct knowledge and develop skills. At EECS it is not enough to learn concepts from books and memorize facts. It is necessary to approach all content areas from both a foundation of discipline-specific knowledge and an inquiry-based, hands-on approach.

Uniforms

EECS believes that uniforms will help set an environment that is conducive to learning.  We expect our students to dress in a manner that enhances formal behavior and academic learning.  Our policy is designed to reflect pride and enhance the learning environment of our students by establishing an attitude of high expectations.  Students are encouraged to come to school dressed for success-clean, well-groomed, comfortable and dressed appropriately for the weather.  Uniforms will help create a sense of community and group identity among the student body at EECS and will help student’s better concentrate on their work and less on the latest fashions. Students are expected to wear their uniforms every day, including field trip days.  Students should wear gym uniforms ONLY on the days they have gym class.

Students can earn one out of uniform school day each month

The EECS School uniform is as follows:

Skirts, Skorts, Shorts, and Pants:

  • Khaki color

Shirts:

  • Light yellow oxford long or short sleeve shirts with school initials embroidered over left chest

Sweater:

  • Burgundy long-sleeve sweater with school initials embroidered over left chest

Shoes:

  • Think safety, not style: closed toed and heel, logo free, brown or black shoes
  • For girls: plain socks or tights in brown, burgundy, white or black
  • For boys: plain brown, burgundy, white or black socks

Miscellaneous:

  • Temporary hair coloring, tattoos, or makeup is not allowed at EECS, as it is a distraction to student learning
  • Hats and bandanas should not be worn during the school day

The EECS gym uniform is as follows:

Bottom:

  • Royal blue shorts or sweatpants with school logo over left pant lef

All students will be expected to come to school in uniform on the first day of school and there on.  The school uniform policy will be enforced on a daily basis.  If students do not comply, the following consequences will occur:

1 or 2 times out of uniform:  A call will be made home for the uniform to be brought to school and a uniform reminder note will be sent home, which will indicate that your child will not be accepted at school the next day if they come out of uniform.

3 or more times out of uniform: Child is sent home automatically and a meeting will be arranged with the parent and teacher.

An out of uniform day will be earned if students have no uniform policy violations for that month.
