Mission Statement

At the elementary level, it is critical to develop learners who explore, inquire and are able to work collaboratively to construct knowledge and develop skills. At EECS it is not enough to learn concepts from books and memorize facts. It is necessary to approach all content areas from both a foundation of discipline-specific knowledge and an inquiry-based, hands-on approach.

Dr. Nancy Luna - Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Luna joined the EECS team in May of 2006.  She is a bilingual (Spanish and English) and bicultural (Mexican-American) clinical psychologist, who has been practicing psychology for the last 9 nine years. Dr. Luna has worked in various settings providing diagnostic and treatment services to people of all ages.  She has worked at various public and Catholic schools during her psychology training years and specializes in multicultural treatment and trauma.

Dr. Luna will have a critical role in the education of your child. She will work directly with some children one on one and in small group as well as supervise the Chicago School of Psychology externs who will also be working with your children. Dr. Luna believes that children thrive best when their families are also supported. Thus, she will also offer services to parents.

A long-time resident of Chicago, she grew up in Little Village (attended CPS grammar and high schools) and always attempts to consider the many unique factors affecting minority children and their families. Dr. Luna hopes to promote your child and family’s well-being by assisting in strengthening their emotional and psychological needs.

Dr. Luna received her Full APA Accreditation from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at UIC.
