Dear Parent/Guardian,
Welcome to 2nd grade! My name is Ms. Sánchez. Ms. Rivera and I look forward to a very exciting and productive school year in the NEIU Room. We will be doing the much of our learning in Spanish, but we will also be working on building our English skills. Our students can have a lot of pride in being bilingual, bi-literate and bi-cultural; please encourage your child to do his/her best.
We are confident that ALL of our students will achieve commended status this year. In our classroom I have set a big goal of an average of 1.5 years of growth in reading and writing for all of my students. We are positive that each and every one of them will be able to achieve this goal with the right amount of hard work and dedication.
We also ask for your support. It is our belief that when parents and teachers work as a team that students can accomplish anything. Please feel free to visit our classroom or reach out to us at any time. Also, please emphasize the importance of homework and hard work to your child. They will have homework every night except for Friday. I am requiring that each of my students read for a minimum of 20 minutes each night.
Please review the attached student information cards. I ask that you go over them with your child, sign and return them to me by the end of the first week of school. As stated above please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason. Together we can make this an excellent school year!

¡Bienvenidos a 2º grado! Mi nombre es Srta. Sánchez. Sra. Rivera y yo estamos muy emocionadas por empezar el ano escolar con su hijo/a. Este ano va ser muy emocionante y muy productivo. Una gran parte de nuestro aprendizaje será en español pero también tendremos un enfoque en mejorar nuestros habilidades de ingles. Nuestros estudiantes pueden tener mucho orgullo en ser bilingüe. Por favor motívelos de siempre poner su mejor esfuerzo.
Nuestra meta este ano es que todos nuestros estudiantes logren un promedio de 1.5 anos de mejoramiento en lectura y escritura. Estamos seguras que todos ellos lo podrán hacer con dedicación y el nivel de esfuerzo apropiado.
También le pidemos su apoyo. Es nuestra creencia que cuando los papas y los maestros se unen en un equipo que un estudiante puede lograr cualquier cosa. Por favor siéntase con la confianza de visitar a nuestro salón o de ponerse en contacto nosotras en cualquier momento. Por favor recalque con su hijo la importancia de hacer la tarea y de siempre poner su mejor esfuerzo. Los estudiantes tendrán tarea todos los días. Otro requisito de mi clase es que cada estudiante lea por un mínimo de 20 minutos cada noche en voz alta.
Por favor revise la hoja de información estudiantil y regréselo a la escuela antes del final de la primera semana de clases. Como lo he dicho, por favor no dude en comunicarse si se le ofrece cualquier cosa. ¡Juntos podemos hacer que este ano escolar sea uno de grandes éxitos!
