Parents, 7th graders are going to need your help this weekend with a few assignments:
1) Reading: The House on Mango Street - Strong themes of Growing up, Gender Roles, Social Inequality, and Freedom & Entrapment are going to surface in their reading of the chapters pgs. 86-98. They are read & respond to them in Response Journals, but would benefit from a discussion with you on some of the topics.
2) Writing: Revising their Description of a Person poems. Third drafts are due Monday and they need a new set of eyes on them to help bring out more sensory details (What does their character looks like? What do they see, smell, taste, feel, etc? Challenge your writer to use more figurative language.
3) Social Studies: All students received a practice test for the 100-ques. U.S. Constitution test they will take in late May/early June. They also have (blue, paperback study guide booklets) to read & locate the answers for this test, as practice for the actual one. Please make sure your child is studying his/her Constitution flash cards with vocabulary & factoids, which will be on the test. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
