About Homework

 

Kindergarten children will get 10-15 minutes of homework per night.

Kindergarten homework is designed to be done with an adult.

In kindergarten, establishing the habit and routine of doing homework and returning it in a timely manner is just as important as the content that the homework is reviewing. Your child may need a pencil, crayons, scissors and glue to complete some homework assignments. Please make sure to have a set of these supplies at home.

The type of homework your child receives will vary. Most often, it will be an activity that may or may not produce a product to return to school. Five minutes of homework is reserved every night for listening to an adult read a storybook. On some nights, the homework may be to respond to the story in their journal. As a way to ensure that a book is available for reading at home, children will be able to borrow books from the classroom library as long as you have signed an agreement to return the book in a timely manner and to pay the cost of replacement if the book is lost or damaged. Finally, your child's Eagle Binder has a section that will identify essential skills that your child needs to practice, such as learning the names of the letters or counting.

Homework for the week will be sent in the Eagle Binder every Monday. This sheet will also indicate whether anything needs to be returned and when.
