Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to the fifth grade! My name is Ms. Heidi DeVooght. I cannot wait to start my third year at Erie. I look forward to seeing many familiar faces in my classroom and we are thrilled to welcome new classmates into the Carleton College classroom. I spent the summer with my family and friends. I took a road trip to New York and I saw Niagara Falls. I hope that all of you had a wonderful restful summer and that the children are ready to work hard and learn next week.   I am excited about the opportunity to work with you and your child, and I'm looking forward to a happy and productive school year.

There is a website for Erie Elementary Charter School, www.eriecharterschool.org. The website will keep you connected to fifth grade events, assigned homework, and give updates on general school information. Make sure to check it out and stay involved in classroom activities. Studies show that parental involvement in a child's education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. We hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school-sponsored events as possible.
